Arly was born in a village in the middle of the forest closest to Wisteria. The village was known for their pretty girls and herbal remedies. Growing up Arly’s mother tried to teach her how to make basic remedies as well as the basics of being a good wife for when she was to be married off, like all the girls of their village do. Alry, however, was not much interested in any of that even at a young age and would constantly sneak off to go play with the boys. At such a young age most of the games the boys would play were close to sword (stick) fighting. As she grew up she spent less and less time with her family and more time with the boys of her village constantly sword fighting with wooden swords. As she turned 13 a knight from Wisteria sought her out on account of her looks. To much of the knights surprise, he did not find a girl in a dress but a girl in boys torn clothing with bandages seemingly everywhere. The poor knight was a bit taken back by her tomboyish appearance that when he asked what she enjoyed he was once more shocked that she said sword fighting.
The knight decided to give her a chance, mainly because she was pretty, and stayed around for a while. Arly saw this as a wonderful chance and began to ask him about knighthood and what it meant. To much of her amusement she became interested in every aspect of being a knight. Even more curious she started to challenge him to fight random monsters in the forest to see just how he fought. The knight was happy to show off his skills, and Arly was more happy to watch and take in his every movement, memorizing everything down to his stance, to how he swung his sword, to even how he dodged. Shocked by his amount of skill she wanted to see more so she could learn more and started to get him to go out into the forest more often with her. Day after day she watched as he attacked the monsters of the forest with a fiereness that simply had her awestruck.
The knight had finally started to warm up to Arly, and was more than a bit happy to show off for her. One night they sat in the forest as they usually did as they spoke about anything that came to mind. The knight spoke in such a cocky manner that he bet he could slay a dragon with his bare hands. Arly found amusement in this fact and spoke of a legend to the knight. The legend stated that in the middle of this forest was a cave that held a mythological beast that was protecting it’s treasure. The knight boasted to her that he would go in and slay that dragon in front of her and grab the treasure and be known far and wide as the dragon slayer with a ‘beautiful woman’. She was not pleased that he saw her as eyecandy but she was pleased about the part of seeing a dragon, so much so that she opted to leave that night.
As they left the village to head off into the forest it seemed as if everything was perfect, there was no monsters that attacked them, and they were able to set up camp every night with no snags. Finally after a three day journey they found the cave in the center of the forest. The knight was excited to prove his skills to his soon to be woman and rushed into the cave. Quickly following him through the entrance of the cave they could hardly believe what awaited them in the dead center. A green dragon. The center of the cave had a huge green dragon that had a pile of corpses, skeletons and creatures behind it. Quick to get on with the fight the knight charged at the dragon unknowing what was to happen next. The dragon roared spewing a chlorine gas at him causing his armor and weapon to rust, but it seemed like he cared little. Finally he made it to the beast as he slashed at it but got no where as the dragon grabbed him by the torso with his teeth and tossed him into the air only to slam him into the ground with it’s claw with a bunch of crunching sounds following.
Arly was shocked to see the knight go down so easily, but remembering the stories the old knights use to tell the boys in the village she darted forward with only a short sword in hopes of killing the dragon before it regenerating it’s chlorine breath. No one knows how she managed to kill the dragon, she never explains in detail to anyone, but what is known is what treasure she found at the end of such a battle. After mourning for the knight she was to wed, she prayed to the goddess for his soul to find peace. Deciding to move on she walked over to the pile of corpses and on the top of the pile was a skeleton holding a shield and sword that was somehow perfectly intact. Interested she climbed up the pile of skeletons and reached out to the sword first. The moment her hand touched the hilt she felt a sharp pain leap through her body. A deep ominous voice echoed through her head ‘The person who possesses this sword is cursed. If the blade breaks you will die by the very wind you now control. This is the curse that has been bestowed on you.’ Her eyes went wide at the sound of the voice in her head and the words that followed it. A bit taken back about being cursed she knew there wasn’t really much she could do about it now. Deciding there wasn’t any point to be sad about it she looked over at the shield and decided it couldn’t be any worse than the sword. Reaching out she grabbed the shield and sighed happily when nothing happen. Going to leave she glanced over at the dragon and frowned seeing the body of the knight she had spent so long with and walked over to dragon and set down her new things before it. Stepping close to the dragon she pulled out her sword (not the cursed one), and drove it in into the dragon’s gum and pulled downwards towards the tooth before she finally managed to rip it out. Sighing as the tooth hit the ground she grabbed it and placed the still bleeding tooth into her hip pack.
Now with her new weapon and shield she began her journey back to her village. When she arrived back in her village she told the story of the knight that went with her to go find the dragon and the perils she had faced with the dragon, along with the story of how she managed to get the shield and sword. To much of her amusement her mother was proud of her. So proud in fact, she had taken the dragon’s tooth from her room and crafted it into a necklace for her daughter that she always wears to remember the knight that fell because of her curiosity.
At the age of 14 the nearby village came in and attacked her little village. Arly ran towards the group of enemy villagers and got there just in time to find a couple of her sides villagers dead. Enraged by this sight she pulled out the cursed sword and slashed it towards the side releasing a small whirlwind at the group of enemies. Racing towards them she sent air slashes at them managing to kill a good dozen, before the enemies retreated. Soon enough to word of the “Knight of the Red Gale” began to spread to the nearby villages and soon enough Wisteria.
Hearing the word of such a knight the King sent his men off to collect the knight wanting to add them to his ranks. That day the knights came to Arly’s small village and demanded to see the “Knight of the Red Gale”. As Arly walked out to them the knights believed it to be some sort of a joke and began to laugh about a woman being a knight. Angered by such a thought she demanded them to take her back to their King.
After the short journey to the Kingdom of Wisteria she was able to meet the King, who also did not believe she was the “Knight of the Red Gale”. Angered once more she stepped forward and made a deal with the King. She wanted him to pick out his three best knights and let her fight them one after another. If she beat them she demanded him make her a knight of his court, if she failed she would go back to her village and pretend all of this never happened. To much of her pleasure the King decided to humor her little deal and allowed it.
Arly was now 17 and the King’s first knight, she stood proudly for the kingdom of Wisteria, and held her honor close to her. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her kingdom. As winter came near the king called her to his throne room and spoke of his dire situation. He told her that the kingdom’s most valuable heirlooms had been stolen. This came at a shock to her, mainly because she hadn’t heard of this before now, which of course she had mentioned. The King replied that the heirlooms were something that were tainted by the past of his ancestors, but even though they were evil items, he wanted to them to stay safe in their custody instead of allowing someone else to use them for evil intent. Outraged that someone stole from her kingdom and that they were using them to do something evil she quickly volunteered to go and get them herself in order to restore the heirlooms to their rightful place. The King was ecstatic to hear such a thing from his first knight and explained that he was assembling a party for her to travel with to make things easier. Knowing that her King would only get the best she agreed to the party and was to go and greet them all at the courtyard once they were done with their introductions with the King.
