Time to take a step back and write a piece of my weakest subject. Fighting.
Most forests were thick with tree trunks blocking any form of trail, however the forest near this little village was roomy. There was a good amount of room to move around, hunt or other things. Lately, near the town, there had been a high amount of demons wandering around. The village was small and full of orphans and hunters, they weren’t unaccustomed to the hardship the random demons created. As the bigger demons drew closer their hunters began to disappear one by one.
The village’s population was decreasing at a rapid rate. Finally one of their higher up hunters got annoyed with it. The hunter emerged from their home with a dark cloak covering their form, though it was obvious they were female. The cloak hid almost all of her body except for the heeled boots and the odd looking bow on her back.
Her boots crushed along the ground as she seemed to all but vanish into the woods. It was obvious what she had decided, she would take the demons down herself.
The day had progressed into night. It was dead silent as the sun set.
“Let the fun begin…”
The first demon towered almost as tall as the trees, it was deathly skinny, but it was built and sleek. It didn’t carry any weaponry, no, but it did have claws and a spited tail. Something told her it was primitive and instinctual in a fighting manner. Slowly, she moved behind the tree, pulling her bow over her shoulder and in front of her, she had her fingers on an arrow. Nothing special about it, just a plain wooden arrow. Notching it, she waited. ‘one, two….’ The creature stepped in line of her ‘three!’ She let the arrow soar through the air striking it in the head, however it didn’t seem too much other than annoy the creature. It roared out in anger and thrashed, causing the tree next to her to groan in protest and come toppling down.
She threw her weight into her toes causing her to fling in the opposite direction of the falling tree, shifting her weight she rolled along the ground. Skidding to a stop, her hand pulled over her back as she notched another wooden arrow. Inhaling slowly, the tip of the arrow engulfed in fire as she let the drawstring slip from her fingers. The air whistled through the air hitting the target skull once more as the fire was weak, but still on the target. The demon roared angrily as it began trashing into the forest knocking tree by tree down trying to find its opponent.
On her feet now, her eyes kept up making sure to see each of its thrashes, she jumped back as she notched another arrow. Running alongside of the demon – behind the trees – she heard them crashing behind her. She skidded to a stop as she threw her knee on the ground as the arrow she had notched flew through the air glittering with orange flames. Her hands kept moving as she pulled out another arrow and inhaled causing it to engulf in flame again. Letting that one soar, she heard the whistle and the solid thunk as the first arrow his the targets ankle. The second arrow hit in the adjacent ankle.
The demon didn’t slow down, its eyes locking onto her as it ran, faster than she had expected. Its claw swung fast catching her in the stomach and flinging her into the closest nearby tree. Due to the sheer force of the throw, her body flung like a cannonball crashing through the trees in a straight line. Finally the momentum wore off as her back slammed against a tree trunk and slid down like a broken rag doll with a horrid gash in her stomach.
The demon roared in its triumph, a screeching sound as it stomped around.
It was quiet, it was as if the forest itself knew of the battle and what was progressing of it. The demon began to wander towards the ragdoll of a woman, knowing it would be their meal.
‘twitch… twitch’ a soft groan slipped from the woman’s lips. “Alright, that was dumb…” she grumbled. Slowly she picked herself up, her shoulders sagged as strands of bright pink hair seemed to show itself. Their head tilted upwards as their eyes glowed a bright purple. “No more…” her bow hit the ground as she walked forward slowly. Now unarmed, her eyes held a sinister glint. Her pace picked up a bit, she was walking briskly, and then, it turned into an all-out sprint. A slow smile slid along her lips until it was tight and much larger than it should have been. Her hands began to glow a bright purple as they balled into a fist. In a mad dash towards the creature, she leapt into the air, her hands having a large aura around them as if she had on gauntlets. “No more, playing around!” she screamed as her right hand came down in a hook and slammed the demon’s head right into the ground. Landing with a thud, she walked forward, her hands glowing. “What’s wrong.. I thought you were going to… “ Her left hand slammed into its skull causing a crater to form under it’s head. “Kill me!” Hearing a crunch of bone under her, hot black fluid splashed along her skin, her head tilted back as she took a step back. The demon didn’t move.
The woman straightened up as she let her grin grow until she broke out into a maniacal laugh. “It thought it had a chance, heh”
