The forest was silent, almost eerily so, it was odd, there wasn’t even a chirp. Suddenly a loud crash broke the sound as a tree came barreling down towards the forests floor. The sheer force of the giant tree falling created a domino effect, causing many trees in its path to come toppling down. The forest was now alive with sound as the cracking of tree trunks and thunderous crashes became the new forests melody. The destruction continued as the sound of ragged high pitch breathing seemed to add to the small amounts of silence between that. The nearby thicket was all but mowed down as an armored figure all but stomped it over with ease. The figure was monstrous, almost 15 feet tall. Their armor was pitch black and seemed to all but ooze from their body as if a liquid. At that moment, the liquid pooled along the forest ground, rose as if a living tentacle, and stuck out towards three nearby tree trunk. Within an instant, the trunks splintered and snapped causing the massive oaks to come toppling down towards the nearby river.
Unlike the times before, the moment the thunder of one of the tree hit there was an odd high pitch sound, almost like a scream. The figure stomped its way towards the sound merely pushing the trees aside of allowing its oozing armor tentacle to rip them down. Finally, the creature broke through the tree line and stood before not only the river but also the weird noise.
Before the creature was a small girl. The small girl stood only 4 foot, even with the heeled boots she was wearing, and was lean in build. Her white hair clung to her face and hung around her mid back. She was adorned in a black and white Victorian style dress with ruffles and lace. Her two tones eyes shone brightly as she looked up at the creature, one bright blue and the other a bright violet. Slowly stepping forward, the ray of filtered light all but glowed along her pale skin causing her lips to twitch into a smile.
The creature roared out as its armor began to pour violently along the ground causing two massive tentacles to swipe for the small girl. Right as it was about to hit the girl seemed to vanish.
Moving quickly, she had managed to skirt along the riverbank and leap up into the air. Her hand glowed with a brilliant purple color, as it seemed to slowly materialize into what looked to be pirate ship cannon. Oddly enough as it fully materialized, she held it with two hands as if it weighed nothing.
The beast ran forward in an attempt to slam into her. Right as the beast went to hit her, she pushed the cannon against its face as it began to glow brighter and brighter.
“Boom” her voice was childlike but monotone as the cannon seemed to fire out a massive beam of energy completely obliterating the top half of the beast.
Moving her hand back towards the base of the cannon, she managed to quickly shove her hand in her dress and pull out a lollipop. Breaking out in a big smile, she stuck it in her mouth with happiness and wiggled a bit in the air to show her excitement.
Unfortunately, the beast wasn’t quite done yet. The mass of liquid along the ground began to flow over the remaining body of the creature. The moment the liquid began to touch the charred remains of the creature it started regenerating. After only a short moment, the creature was almost completely ago.
The small girl looked over at the creature with dull interest, her eyes showed no fear and not much of anything else. Her hands returned to the cannon, as the stick of the lollipop was apparent in her mouth. Turning the cannon towards the creature, it began to glow again. Blinking she began to rise up into the air as she angled the cannon downwards at the creature making sure all of it would be subject to the beam this time.
It roared out in protest as its body began to bubble causing its armor ooze to flow upwards towards its shoulders. The moment a good amount of ooze had formed, it shot upwards like spikes aiming for the little girl.
Right as the spikes neared her; she shoved her cannon onto one of the spikes and kicked the side of it causing it to break. Too much of her enjoyment, the creature roared in pain. Smiling, she got ahold of her cannon and tapped the side of it. The cannon doubled in size, as she seemed a bit strained to aim it this time. It glowed almost instantly and within a moment, a much larger beam raced along the spike and encased the demon. The beam continued as the demons body began to flake apart, its roar of pain becoming obscenely loud as it go closer to death.
Soon enough the light dissipated leaving nothing but a crater in the ground where the creature use to be. The girl’s cannon disappeared as she lowered to the ground, a glint of light seeming to disappear along her back. The moment her feet hit the ground, she reached up to pull the lollipop out of her mouth and began to lick it rather childishly.
“Yukari!!” a female voice yelled out as the brush next to the small girl seemed to rustle. A taller woman stepped out of the brush allowing the light to hit her features. She was almost six foot tall, rather muscular. Her black hair was kept back in a ponytail allowing her red eyes to show vividly. Along her body was a par of tight black pants that hung along her hips, a top that didn’t cover midriff but fell along her arms instead of her shoulder and covered all of her chest. Along her left hip hung a dagger and on her back was a giant greatsword. Rushing forward, she scooped up the little girl and cuddled her. “I was so worried about you! Did you get attacked by the creature?” her eyes adverted over towards the giant crater and gasped. “Did you see who did that?!” her voice was a bit higher pitch as she seemed to be in disbelief.
The smaller girl hugged the larger girl and giggled a bit. “I’m okay,” she stated simply as she let the woman talk. Hearing her questions, she shivered too fake shaking. “It was scary… I just ran, then I heard weird explosion noises so I just ran faster…” she sniffled and clung onto the woman.
Sighing she slowly let the girl down and stared at the crater. “Well hopefully whatever caused that is on our side. I’m glad you’re okay. Come on, everyone is waiting back at camp.” The woman stated with care in her voice as she held her hand and walked back into the forest.
