Silence slammed against her hard after hearing his words. Married? She was to be married! Her eyes were wide as she simply stared at her father for a long moment until she finally seemed to be able to talk. She was just so shocked. “Married?” she managed to ask out rather shakily. “To… to whom?” she finally pushed out as she took in a deep breath and waited for her answer.
Xavier watched, as his daughter seemed to all but fall over herself at the mention of marriage. Surely, she knew this was going to come up, what did she think was going to happen? Letting her finally ask the question he grinned. “You are to be married to the rival kingdom in order to keep our peace.” He said simply. Of course to him this was no big deal, she had to do it, for their kingdom.
Charlotte stared at her father for a long moment before it finally clicked. The rival kingdom, wasn’t that the… the vampires! Her eyes went wide as she realized how bad this was. Surely, this would save their kingdom but she would all but be thrown to the lions. They would drain her or worse, change her. Frowning she pushed back her chair and rose quickly and rushed away from her father. Of course, she would do it, he knew she had to do it, but she wasn’t all too pleased about it. Furious, she stormed out of the dining room and down the hall trying to get to her room as quick as possible. Shuffling down the hall her heels, clicked at a fast rate as she dodged around servants and said not a word to any of them trying to speak with her. Rounding the last corner towards her room, she was quickly stopped as she ran into a rather firm chest and stumbled back. On the verge of tears, she glared at whoever it was as her eyes trailed up. After a moment, her glaring eyes had caught with a bright shade of blue. Blinking realizing she had run into Alex her lower lip quivered as she tried to hold it back. His features went from humorous to worry in a second, but she didn’t have time for it. Dodging around him, she all but stumbled to the door behind him, opened it, and quickly rushed in. Throwing herself on the bed, she grabbed her pillow and buried her face weeping of her future. The future she had no control over.
