The test was finally over. She could finally rest easy knowing she got where she needed. Slowly she walked through the bland halls, seeing little reminder calendars and class schedules by Rank. Light glared in through the windows making the hall seem almost holy. Hikari continued to walk, feeling almost floaty. Was her body giving out? She hadn’t slept the last couple of days, and spent that time training and studying.
“I paid off” her voice was a sigh of relief. Her happiness was unparalleled at this moment, however the hallways weren’t safe. Picking up her pace, she reached the elevator and leaned against the back with a sigh. Normally she wouldn’t take the elevator, however she was shutting down.
The doors opended to the dorm room level as she walked briskly towards her room number. Inside the room, was a simple bed and desk. The bed had black sheets, pillows, and nothing else. The desk had a laptop and two stacks of books and a large spiral notebook with a fancy looking pen on top. The window didn’t have any curtains; there was no rug, no pictures, nothing. Just the bed and table.
Kicking the door shut behind her, she stumbled onto her bed and pass out. Darkness engulfed her and threw her into a nightmare.
She stood in the center of the city, a dark cloudy sky above her. Sounds of creatures closing in, as her clothes were torn; blood staining the whitish fabric. Her breathing was ragged; her grip along her hilt was shaky. She had been fighting for what seemed like hours and more began to flood the area. Hikari was sure there was a portal somewhere close in the area. She had checked almost all places except the building before her. Every time she got close, they swarmed her. There was no doubt, they were guarding the portal.
Annoyance flared over the exhaustion as she rushed forward through an air slash before her, aiming to cut through. As she neared another swarm of demons, she stabbed the sword into the ground as the earth around cracked and fire shot up burning the creatures alive. “Get out of my way!” she yelled yanking her sword out and rushing inside. Before her was the portal, but more importantly, there was an elite right next to it. Its eyes met hers, as she felt odd. She was at her limit, but she couldn’t fail.
Searing pain hut her spine as the smell of blood hit her sense. She had left her back exposed. Her body shook as she felt the on knee.
She didn’t want to fail, she couldn’t die like this. Her back was freed as a figure stood before her. Her eyes raised as it picked her up by her head. Glaring at the beast, she spit at it. “Don’t touch me ugly.”
Her voice was gruff, and the creature opened its mouth wide and pulled her towards it.
Fear racked her emotions as she realized what was happening. Right as it went to eat her she woke up, in a gasp.
Glancing around the room she paled and snuck under the covers and pulled and teddy bear out from under her pillow. Cuddling the stuffed animal she shook lightly “I’m okay…” she muttered to herself. “ I can do this.” It was mostly to her.
Slowly, she peaked out of the covers and noticed it was nighttime now. Crawling out of the covers, she ticked the bear under her pillow and straightened the bed. Standing up and straightening her clothes, she walked out of the room and towards the showers.
