Finally, she had made it to Rank A, it felt like it took forever. She stood in her room, her short black hair framed her delicate features. She was clad in her school uniform and proudly so. Moving towards her dorm balcony, she shoved the door open and gasped at the sudden surge of wind. She made her way towards the raising, smiling. One of the 5 rank A’s. That would give her sister something to be proud of. Leaning along the railing, she looked up at the clouds.
“How is Hikari doing without me?” her voice was soft but concerned.
Since her mom left and her father slaved away to provide for their family, she had become like a mother figure to Hikari. Sure, she sent messages every day and called her every week, but it was always lies.
Sighing, she pressed her cheek against the rail. “What would she do if she knew the truth?”
A knock sounded behind her, as the door opened to show one of her closest supporters.
“I have come to give you your first A rank mission..” they paused, “however, I don’t think you should do it.”
Turning, her eyes met theirs, a small smile slid along her lips. “What type of Rank A would I be if I didn’t go?”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. Someone already noticed the tape was tampered with.”
She shrugged “It won’t matter if I prove it with this mission.”
They sighed “You need to be careful, remember you have a sister that idolizes you. If something happened to you-“
“She’d move on” Icarus interjected immediately. “It matters not, she will turn out strong, she always has been. I just need to prove myself. It’s all going according to plan.”
“You never told me what happened after this point.”
Icarus chuckled and turned back around “Wonderous things.”
That night Icarus was killed in the midst of battle..
