There once stood a town, high above the hills of X. It is said that the town itself has been around since the medieval time, however the roads are always blocked and no one makes mention of it. It was a once great city that prospered quite well for its time; it was even a main point of trade for the larger kingdoms nearby. As many know, the Black Death took out over a third of Europe and thus fell the glorious medieval period fell into the shambles. Rumor says that the cause of the plague is kept up in the castle high upon the mountaintop. Others speak of the rumors of the poor abandoned town. Sounds of screams at night, you can smell rotting flesh and smoke, some even go so far as to say they saw something, but they are unable to explain it. One moment it’s just a dark shadow and then it’s gone. It’s a wonder why the town hasn’t just decided to tear it all down. Maybe it’s too big a part of history, or maybe there’s more.
It is known now that the cause of the plague was the fleas on rats, though it is obvious that no one could have known at that time. That being said, how could the “cause” be inside the city? Though it was common knowledge how the cause came about, now at least, it does beg the question, is the city rat infested?
Some grew interested of the ghost town and wandered in, they figured they would find rats, but who knows what they found. The group was unaware and ill equipped, and as they wandered in, well, they quickly met there death. How did people find out you ask?
Simple, a river runs next to our little town and the ghost city and it just so happen to carry some mangled bloated corpses downstream. That was a very old report, but years have passed and sure enough, no one has went near the town, it’s just a ghost story to us now.
