So many things to say about such a simple game!
First of all I got this on sale during the Steam Christmas sale, I believe it was just under $2.
Key points of this game:
-Beautiful art, it’s so fun!
-Simple to follow
-Soothing music that fits your witchy ways
-Cheap with hours to play!
So starting off, Vodoo Garden is a clicker farm type game. It’s very simple to play and get into. The idea behind it is that you’re a witch/wizard brewing potions to make a living. You make this garden and everything you grow are the ingredients for your different potions. You click to harvest the items, click to catch the critters that run onto your garden, or click to steal by your items with the bats try to take your ingredients. The other main thing is the sacrifice/spirit function. Along the center of the picture above there is a pig. You feed your animal until it’s so fat it’s about to burst, then you can sacrifice it. Sacrificing it grants it back to you as a spirit that helps you harvest your plants! That way you can actually keep up when your garden gets big enough.
Another fun mechanic is the totems. You can place little totems around your garden to attract certain creatures. There are snakes, snails, dragonflies, grasshoppers and frogs that just travel through your garden, clicking them kills them but gives you the ingredient from them. EX: Dragonfly wings.
Upgrading: You can upgrade your crops to grow faster. You can upgrade your spirits so they can harvest more types of things. EX: Some spirits can’t harvest mushrooms until you upgrade them. You can upgrade your witches cabinet so you can store more items
Expanding: You also can make your garden bigger by purchasing expansion upgrades, however, each section you buy can have more spirits as well!
Lastly, the weather cycle. Though your spirits help you with crops which is very helpful! You get rain every so often, which cause your spirits to vanish, but it also scares away all the other creatures. Though you can’t harvest as fast without your spirits you get plenty of time without the other creatures.
All in all, Vodoo Garden is a fun farm clicker game with great art, music and simplistic game play. I found it fun and enjoyable and it wasted a good amount of time for how little money I spent!
