–Dragon Kingdom– a kingdom full of life. There are people of magic here that want to learn more things. The kingdom is structure with a rather strict hierarchy. People born into this kingdom are normally people of magic, it is the basis of this kingdom and normally flows through each person in one way or another. If you are a rank above commoner or peasant, your magic will manaist stronger based on your status symbol. Those with certain status are able to apply to be a dragon knight. Dragon knights are those that create contracts with dragons that can call upon their power in different ways. Their powers will always be specific to the person and the dragon, no two dragon knights will be the same. The dragons are ancient beings with a vast amount of wisdom. Long ago they were ferocious creatures the destroyed the earth and everything on it. It is said that a great change in the world happened and one man made a pact with the dragons, uniting the humans and dragons for all of time. The first Dragon Knight, Lucian, had made a pact with the dragons when his village was under extinction and he wanted a way to save his people. The actual communication between the two is unknown, but after that interaction, the people of that village had a good tie to dragons. They were always on good standing and coexisted with them. Years passed and now dragons are a part of their culture. Wyrms, wyverns and full on dragons reside within this kingdom and are protected as if normal citizens. The king of Volos has a contract with one of the older dragons and confides in him for all big kingdom decisions. It is common for people to have contracts with wyrms, wyverns or dragons, however their dragons age and strength depends on the person. You will see commoners have baby wyrms inside their homes, or see hatchlings wandering around town. The kingdom of dragons isn’t one to start battles, however they are the target for almost all of them. Since dragons are such strong and knowledgeable creatures, there are many enemies they have made. Throughout the years they have fended off all attacks and only participate in crucial wars, mostly the ones aimed at them. They do not discriminate often, though they are wary of outside humans seeing as the human kingdom keeps trying to go to war with them. The people here are very protective of any dragons, wyrms or wyverns. It is uncommon for commoners or peasants to make a contracts with a dragon as it’s normally the dragon that chooses, however it is possible though extremely rare.
-Half-breeds-This includes half elves, half demons, beastkin [nekos ect], or other half races. They were the weakest kingdom in the beginning and attempted to ignore the war, since they didn’t choose a side they were wiped out immediately. They were the first kingdom to fall during the old war and scattered throughout the other kingdoms. Most are rather fun loving and lackluster in terms of politics. They care little for the whys of war, but some enjoy the excitement of it. The race as a whole doesn’t lean on a particular side, but each person individually is on a side, or somewhere in the middle. Due to this, they find their kin on the battlefield, but they could find no greater feeling. They are normally peaceful but they love the instinctual feeling of the hunt, the feeling of fighting. The half breeds will end up on both sides in this war, always. They will respect the other kin that choose the other side as that is their decision. They are accepted in all kingdoms since they are hard workers and normally immediately go for the peasant like work. The humans see them as nothing more than peasant workers and normally dislike them due to their “impure blood”, however they will keep them fed and protected due to them tending the crops and doing the important menial tasks. Elves see half breeds in multiple lights. Depending on what the halves are they can be hated, accepted or loved. Demons don’t see any issues with the beastkin as they normally just do as they want regardless.
–Demon Kingdom– They do as they please, whether that be destroying a city because they want land, or taking over a village because they want more slaves. The demons are free in the matter of thought. Their king is a strong ruler who allows his people to have free will, unless it interrupts what he is doing. He normally looks into gaining land and gaining more people to support his mass of people. The kingdom is rather lax in terms of security in most places, and murders happen quite often, but in terms of kingdom defenses, there is no stall in protecting the kingdom. They took the side of the dragons in the last war and see the humans as ridiculous while they cry out to their make believe god. The demons don’t so much as aid the dragon kingdom as it’s more of they don’t like the human kingdom and want them out of the picture. In times of great struggle, the demons will take whatever side the human kingdom isn’t on. To the demons they see the dragons as just another creature that has knowledge and power. Eventually they will harness their own, and they intend to. Demons do as they please, so meeting one can go any one way. They are normally more trending towards chaos and tend to like violence, but some are more conniving and look for purpose. It depends on their encounter. Since the Demon king is so powerful and has led them to many great victories they are quite loyal to him and his choices, there is very little struggle when it comes to king made decisions. If a demon is faced with a decision to join a human kingdom person or a dragon kingdom person they will most likely choose the dragon kingdom unless the human kingdom person benefits them more and even then it’s rare.
-Human Kingdom- mostly religious, believing in [insert god name here], who is the god of truth and hope. They believe under him they can do anything. They believe he is the only true god and following anything else is blasphemy. It is said the first war was caused by him as he has now stated that dragons are blasphemous creatures that were created by hell itself. Most have been raised near a church and are constantly reminded on their belief. Orphans are taken care of by the church, and the church is the pinnacle for even their hierarchy, as the king needs to speak with the high priest before any decisions to make sure their god agrees with it. The high priest is seen as the one closest to their god and that he alone speaks the word of their god. All children and people born within this kingdom partake in daily scripture and worship, they do it at sunset to make sure that all work is done and that all people have no excuses but to be part of it. Most of the people here are extremely loyal to their religion and see no issues with this belief. Their lives have been good under their god and no one ever attacks their kingdom. They are safe from all war other than the ones they cause and the forest surrounding them only has one entrance in and that’s through the front gates where their most elite protect them. Even the lowly peasants are still fed through the church. Any other races within the kingdom are allowed within their church and are accepted, so long as they stay in the back.
-Elves- closest to nature. They believe that all things in the world should return to how they once were, before human or any architecture ruined the land. They constantly seem angry by the massive kingdoms and their waste of space and constantly show some hostility towards actual civilization. They now live in the forests and the plains, in trees or huts made of actual vegetation. They live off what the land provides them. They are sometimes druidic in nature and find multiple ways to return what was given to the earth. They do not push for any wars seeing as how the last time they took a side they were punished for it. They have their own nature goddess they follow, however it is said she isn’t that hard to meet. As elves they have a matriarchy, and even though they are spread out throughout the continent they find many ways to move as one race. Some elves have ventured into other kingdoms, curious to gain more knowledge, as most stay within their current society. Meeting an elf in the woods would go one of two ways for you. Either you’ll meet a very strong nature elf that will help you because you’re part of nature too, or you’ll find a more bitter one, who will hate you for what you are and where they think you live. They can also choose to be aggressive immediately on what happened to them in the past during their kingdom falling. During the fall of their kingdom some were taken as slaves for the bigger kingdoms, or they were saved by people whom they immediately pledged loyalty to.
-Dragon knights, dragon hunters vs. Zealots
-dragon based kingdom, “weakest” during winter
-mage kingdom, in alliance with the dragons, interested in their magic/knowledge
-crazy religious kingdom that believes the dragon “acting as gods” is a heresy and wants to eliminate them in a crazy dragon crusade.
-dragon knights, possibly like dragoons
-dragon hunters who either want their scales and parts for selling reasons or a few crazed mages that want to absorb their power
-mage w/contracts // artists
Originally 5 kingdoms
After the first dragon war, the halfbreed kingdom was wiped out and had to scatter to separate kingdoms, and the elven kingdom became a place of controversy. They felt the kingdom of dragons was forcing nature against it’s will, and fell prey to their kingdom being destroyed as well. The human kingdom did see a good amount of damage but the kingdom as a whole survived.
Current remaining kingdoms: Dragon, Demon and human.
-Halfbreeds are normally commoners or lower and are speckled within each kingdom, their beliefs are not as a whole like most, each will have differing opinions
-Elves scattered into the forests and plains and recreated many little civilizations. Some are scattered in other kingdoms, though it’s said those that are in other kingdoms either swore loyalty or another or were taken as slaves.
How long had it been now? It felt like an eternity. Like the idea of her life was now completely different and alien. What happened in mere months changed her horrid life of miserable repetition forever. Now, here she was, in a different place, with people she kind of new but had the need to protect. She had responsibility, people loved her, and that was amazing, but..
She sighed, “It’s not the same”. Pulling her feet through the covers, they tangled around her body as her knees met her chest. Lowering her chin to her knees, she hugged them to herself. Her blue eyes fluttered closed as she recalled some happier memories. Memories of him..
The continent of Aorwynn had undergone a bunch of changes within a half year. The kingdom of Thiris had decrowned the King, and made Rena their Queen. Her kingdom was quickly destroyed and herself and her remaining people had fled. They fled to the north to their ally Aeria in hopes of a better life. Though they didn’t shatter their hopes immediately, they were not the safe haven they had all hoped for. The elves were not fond with the idea of a permanent residence, but did allow for a temporary one. That was enough to keep her people safe, but ultimately she needed to take care of Edowen to make sure they weren’t going to wander forever. Traversing the lands, she had stumbled into an old mausoleum and discovered the ruins of Milinia, an old kingdom in which she was a direct descendent. It seemed like it was a glorious kingdom filled with magic and wonder, however they met their end to a man named Salem, which was a minion of the Demon Lord of Edowen. This knowledge helped in exposing who Salem was and what happened with Edowen to make them this way. Traveling south towards Edowen was a longer journey but it was all spent with him, so it was worth it. When they had finally made it to Edowen, it was an all out war. It was crazy. They went again an entire kingdom with no one but each other, but they managed to slaughter their way to the demon lords, they were exhausted and ragged, but they traversed on. Never once did he complain about her problems. In fact, he embraced the idea of helping and found strength in her resolve. Clashing heads with the demon lords was a thing of terror and tragedy. It didn’t end the way she had hoped, but it was better than expected.
She let out another sigh. Everything after that was mostly a blur. Picking a new location for a kingdom, the construction of her soon to be kingdom, it was still underway. With things being calmer now, it should have made her happy, but it didn’t. Not really. “I miss you…” she muttered.
They had dealt with hell itself practically and managed to make a kingdom where her people and others could be safe. It was a great accomplishment, but why did it seem so empty without him here? Slowly, she moved off of the bed, letting her legs drag the covers with her before she stood on the cool granite flooring. Currently, she lived in a stone house while the construction of her kingdom continued. Walking over to the arched window frame, she leaned against it and peered out towards the walls. The walls were quite large now, most people were very adamant on getting houses built but she was sure they would feel safer with a full on wall. Their current arrangement was a bunch of wooden huts with wooden towers and spiked barricades, it was pretty lame, but it would work until they had an amazing defense. They wouldn’t be destroyed this time. Turning on her heels, she leaned against the stone wall and stared up at the wooden roof, “Why didn’t you come back with me?” her words were silent, but the pain was very apparent. Her footsteps echoed along the ground as she moved over to a small table, her hands running along its surface as she sighed.
“I remember you like it was yesterday…” her hand moved up through the air, caressing an invisible figure that didn’t exist. Her other hand left the table and grasped the thin fabric between her cleavage. “Oh Abel… I wanted to be yours, you said I was, but you’re not here now.” Her eyes fluttered closed as a soft growl escaped her lips. “I know..” she started a bit hesitant. “That you want me to protect my people, but is it so bad that I’d rather be with you instead?” Her hand traced the invisible jaw of Abel. Her lips shifted into a frown as she stomped her foot the air around her growing dense before water droplets pulled from the air around and shifted before her turning into a larger blob. Her hands moved in front of her, as if pulling strings as the blob slowly began to shift and reshape. One of her eyes shifted red as she continued to pull at the blob as it reshaped with her until finally settling into the shape of Abel. Smiling, she took a step forward and hugged along the blob and sighed. Her hand ran up the side of him as she pressed her face against it’s chest. “It’s not exact..” she muttered and glanced up. “It looks close though…” her arms moved up to wrap around it’s neck as she stared up into what would be it’s eyes. “I wonder what you’d think of me, if you knew I did things like this, to cope with you being gone.” She took another step forward, pressing herself against the water figure. “I wonder if you’d think I was clingy or creepy. It’s just so hard to breathe without you. It’s hard to even want to live without you. Every part of my body cries for you to be around. To feel your hand on mine, to feel your warmth, to hear your deep voice tickling my senses. I miss it all…” she pouted. “I want you back Abel, more than anything. I would give up so much…”
How do I love you? Let me count all the ways…
I love you as far as my arms can stretch from fingertip to fingertip
Further than my eyes can see, everything out before me
Everything that I breathe, for I can’t exist without
I love you every second of each day
From the brightest of days, to the darkness of nights
I love you freely, because of feeling, because of the call
I love you innocently, something even the christians would be jealous of
I love you with a burning passion
Even during grief my love for you burns like an everburning candle
To never be extinguished, there is no darkness I can’t dispel without you
With all my scars, I find myself smiling, because of you
Happiness, sadness, the very breath that keeps me living
I will, love you, even when I breathe no more.
Oh, um, hello everyone.
What a journey it’s been. I’m going to be uploading the backlog of writing soon, I’ll also provide a more detailed description of what happened and why I wasn’t around, but for now, know some content is coming! ❤
