I hope you’ve enjoyed the content over the last couple weeks. I finally got the massive back log out to you all. I know I still have a bit more to do. I have another anime review to do. Laughing under the clouds. Great anime, for those wondering. I’ll start having some more Rena content coming out soon, there are some more edits that are done but need to have their side by side available for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunately due to small communication issues with the wordpress support my MMO horror story segment didn’t have much of a chance due to restrictions on the home page. I’ll do another MMO horror story here shortly and see how it does. If it does well, we’ll continue the segment. There should be a good amount of male and female edit pictures here soon. Male would be a new character from my muse, and the female will be Rena. Other than that, I will be doing a pixel art compilation due to some new hobbies I’ve had. So expect to see that. Lastly there will be some art commissions coming up, i have three pending I’ve just been trying to find the time. Things are on the horizon! As usual thank you all for being here ❤
So I stumbled upon this three season anime a bit ago. By stumbled I mean I whined for a new anime and my muse gave me this. This anime has three seasons and has some stunning art, plot twists and good character development. I am writing this review a bit later than I should have so some of the details alude me. Aside from that I will not spoil anything if I can manage to.
Season one is a good set up, it throws you into the story rather fast, giving you a good feel for the characters while making you feel like you missed something. You’re curious about how they got there and how things got to this point, but it makes you want to keep watching. The main female character causes the story to push forward as she looks for her father, however, you find her reactions to things to be rather interesting. At points when most would be afraid she just pushes through. I think this is great because it shows that she’s able to push through even in the face of danger. It’s not like she’s never scared, cause she is, but it’s nice to see that she’s not always frozen in fear. Season one introduces the main “group” of people in which you will undoubtedly get attached to, as well as introducing the main story points that will drive us through season 2 and 3.
Season two was devastating for me. I find myself attached to the wrong character, to put it lightly. The storyline in season two seems to ramp up very quickly and right as you’re like “They can do it!” you notice a string of bad luck. Well they say bad luck comes in pairs and boy does it. This season is no exceptions as despair plagues your favorite characters. With the introduction of another plot twist you find a good amount in common with the main female character. She’s confused, she wants to help, but there’s nothing she can do. Everything she tries makes it worse and to make matters worse, some of it is her fault. Love began to bloom late season one and comes full force in season two. I will warn you season two is technically the last season. Don’t be like me and think season three will give you some crazy plot twist. It doesn’t.
Season three is actually a prequel to season one. You get a new main character instead of the girl, but the main group is the same. You find this main character shows you the makings of the story that you felt you missed at the beginning of season one. Though it doesn’t continue season two’s storyline it does a good job filling in the gaps of how season one started, how things got to this point and why all the characters act like they do.
All in all Hakuouki is a great anime with a good story line. It’s a bit slow at times but if you can keep curious enough it does get very good. It has good romance elements, plenty of action, good suspense and the art is beautiful. I give it at 9.8/10. I can’t make it perfect can I ? haha. The story is good, I did find two things that weren’t resolved but they were minor.
So this was a movie I was waiting for! I was so excited for it. I was ready for it to be everything I wanted. Perhaps I nitpicked a bit but it was a bit of a disappointment to me. I will avoid spoilers as best as possible while providing a small little summary of what I thought of this movie.
Firstly, the art is gorgeous! There was never a moment where the art wasn’t good. The landscapes, the characters, it was all simply beautiful. I loved the contrast in the areas between the two characters art wise, it was stunning and just enough different that you knew something was definitely different. Music! Well done, just enough in the areas it needed to be. It added suspense when you needed to and it even manage to bring a couple tears. A beautiful addition to the art for sure!
My second biggest point is character development. They went into great lengths to let you see the differences between the two characters while moving towards a centralized plot. I found myself enjoying the male character a bit more, but that may be just due to how passionate he was, well that and the random funny moments with him. There was never a point where he just stopped, he just kept going towards finding her. The female character was fun, I found myself enjoying her but there were many points where I felt they were trying to make you feel bad for how her lifestyle was. I found her lifestyle interesting, but I didn’t like that it felt forced to pity her lifestyle for not being normal. Even the side characters were flushed out and interesting! So props to that.
Now, you hear all these amazing thing. The characters reacting to each other is perfect too. So what’s my beef? The ending. The ending just felt, like a let down. They gave you all this build up and you knew it was going to go one of two ways, you knew that it had to resolve in one of these ways, whether good or bad. Instead of giving you either they took a really weak out. Instead of taking anything that felt fulfilling it just felt like they stopped trying at the end of the movie. My biggest issue was definitely the ending, the entire movie made me feel so many wonderful things and then the ending was kind of like they were sitting there going “Well we could give you a good ending, but that would be cliche” or “well we could end it this way but our fans would be mad”. This is defintiely a personal opinion but I felt the ending made the movie a waste. You pretty much watched it all realizing that it didn’t matter at all really. Sure it did make a big difference in terms of the female character, but honestly, that was it. She got a second chance [spoiler, sorry!] but they didn’t remember anything!
Anyways, I give Your Name a 8/10. Beautiful art, music, character and everything, but the ending made me so upset I didn’t find myself recommending it.
I managed to finish it! 🙂 Here is Sheena in all of her tsundere glory. I feel like the skin tone didn’t work as well as I wanted it to, but it seems nice enough. So here is the process, if you will
Top picture would be the finished product.
Bottom left would be the sketch and line work
bottom middle would be the cropping and cutting
Bottom right would be some enhancements on color and the beginning of texture on the skin.
Lines: pencil and Faber Castell- Pitt artist pen S
Cropping and cutting: paint
As promised I did managed to finish the color of this sketch rather quickly. The idea behind it is of two characters. The male would be of my muses’ old character Indra and the other would be Rena in her current state. I felt that since they are both so real to me I wanted them to be in more modern clothing.
The story I had in my mind when drawing this was simple. If Indra and Rena were separated by some strange time anomaly and found each other in the modern world once more. So here is their heartbreaking scene after they finally managed to reunite.
Bottom left is the sketch with lineart with an ink pen
Bottom right is the picture after cropping out all the crappy photo quality
Top is it after editing in Ribbet ❤
I saw a picture a while back that I wanted to give a try at drawing. So here’s the finished product!

Yes, I use ribbet for my edits, mostly cause I somehow managed to lose my Fireworks…
